Seconds, not days.

It happened with the mail; it may happen soon with money.

We welcome the political agreement reached by the EU Council and the European Parliament on our proposal to make instant payments in euros available to all #EU citizens and businesses at no extra cost.

The new rules will also increase trust in #euro instant payments and make sanctions screening more efficient.

#SEPA #InstantPayments seem such an obviously useful thing that I wonder why it needs an EU law to force banks to offer it.

Looks to me like there is a (market) reason why European banks never stood a chance against #Paypal, #GooglePay and #ApplePay.

My boring Sparkasse and Volksbank offer them for a while now already, a few a month for free.
They're very late to the party, sure.

But what I found way more annoying was the fact that the default allowed for three days delay, where the bank would debit your account, wait three days (cashing the interests) and pay it to the recipient.
This was somewhat reluctantly reduced to two and now afaik to one day. Way too late. This should've been the law of the land in the 00's already.
