Aaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhh

Apparently CDU and SPD want to invest €80m in a maglev test in Berlin

WHAT
THE
HELL
FOR?

We know how Maglev works. We also know the system’s limitations. There’s no application of this in Berlin that makes sense.

Build cycle lanes or tram lines.

Also:
- with €80m you’re not going to build a Maglev
- but with €80m you could build a few km of tram line or bike lanes
- Berlin needs more metro lines to outer parts of the city. Costs more than €80m, but make a start on that?

@jon #Berlin literally had such a thing in the 1980s….that’s about the political retro-reference point of transport policy in this city. de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-Bahn

@christianschwaegerl Indeed. And it didn’t work well. So why are we trying this again? Pffff.

@jon Because, as Einstein famously said: "The definition of smartness is doing an unsuccessful thing from the past again, because THIS TIME IT'S GONNA WORK!" @christianschwaegerl
