"The existence of successful class mismatched T cells in the periphery—those that demonstrate high specificity and are signaling competent—could thus reflect a specific subset of cells that have escaped thymic development mechanisms, or they could be rare instances of pedestrian, class-restricted T cells that express a TCR nonetheless cross-reactive with a mismatched MHC ligand."

@cyrilpedia This is cool and reminds me of the work by the Singer lab, showing that Lck association with co-receptors drives MHC restriction. I still find it surprising that thymocytes with 'free' Lck can yield MHC-independent, thymocyte development.

@Rahimilab Yes - and also the great paper earlier this year from the Singer lab swapping the Cd4 and Cd8 coding sequences in their "flip flop" mice

@cyrilpedia I love this paper. Such a clever approach. I can imagine how exciting lab meetings were when they first analyzed these mice.
