'We combine longitudinal repertoire sequencing data, stochastic evolutionary modeling, and tailored inference techniques to determine the characteristic time scales of T cell repertoire evolution. These timescales are in quantitative agreement with long tails observed in the distribution of clone sizes. We show that repertoire turnover slows down with age and is maximal in the largest clones of young individuals.'
