Sometimes you come across an article or documentary that you were not expecting to hook you in, that manages to combine a whole bunch of interesting issues in one amazing narrative.
This, from @ryanhoulihan is one of those, and covers AI, deep fakes, the music industry, culture and Britney Spears.
If you remember the Black Mirror / Miley Cyrus episode from a few years back, strap in, this is an even wilder ride.

@ryanhoulihan I've got thoughts I'm trying to collect because there are some interesting follow up questions.
Does the music industry recognise that you can no longer pull this kind of shit without someone finding out, or are there others in a similar situation?
Are pop stars (and their families) more wary nowadays? I took my kiddo to see Billie Eillish last year and was blown away by her energy, and how much in control she seemed to be of her image and platform, supported by her family. Might be a lot of savvy marketing but I'm an old cynic and it seemed genuine.
@davoloid I think coming from an entertainment family always helps these young people but the dynamics are fundamentally rotten no matter what adjustments you make. I think the industry is not going to meaningfully change without intervention or nuclear events in their business model. But they will find endless ways to dress it up. In my day, it was "they go to a private high school in their trailer with the other kids on their tour/show/set and have normal experiences," which is of course a lie
