freedom.to seems like it's solving a different problem. I don't need apps blocked, just calls and other notifications completely made silent for a while.

Could you mention what app it is? I was thinking of jury-rigging something with a Tasker-like app (Easer https://me.ryey.icu/Easer/en/ or Automation https://server47.de/automation/index.php#), but if this app you mentioned is small and unobtrusive enough it could make things easier.
