What is it with the UK Passport Office's "recognised professions" list? What is it about a chiropodist, for example, that makes them a reliable countersignatory, but a shop assistant, for example, is not?

@falken I dunno, there's stuff like journalists and professional photographers in the list - you don't have to be a member of a professional body, or have any kind of a licence for that.
Meanwhile, there are professions that I would consider to be completely unreliable, such as Member of Parliament...
