Just seen that Telegram is auctioning off usernames for some pissy cryptocurrency!
Luckily, my short name hasn't been purloined by them.
But really shows the peril of centralisation. The terror of artificial scarcity drives so much faux-innovation.
As a sign of how healthy Telegram's username market is, someone just paid ~24 USD for the name "appel_pay"
@Edent wonder if @signalapp will be blocking obvious scam user names now its opened that cannot worms.
