@jess 2001: A Space Oddesy is /the/ triumph in graphic design. It was the first film to utilyze "modern" special effects before the age of computers. It predated Star Wars, which was the second to have such fantastic cinematography. The FX crew for 2001 were the most respected in the industry after the film was released, and moved on to make several other films of amazement including "Colossus: The Forbin Project".

There was nothing like 2001: A Space Oddesy. It was a gamechanger.
