I doubt thats it as there isnt anything of value in those feeds. Its mostly what you see on TV and boring stuff like telemetry and video feeds.

More likely they made it private because if something goes wrong they might not want to show it to the general public and want a chance to decide what they show and when. If their tank, for example, blew a hole that didnt detroy the whole ship it might still lower their stock price or reduce public confidence.
