Question: on my (2 person) Mastodon instance, I am missing in the local timeline (both when I look at it, and when the other accountholder looks at it). Is there a setting that prevents my messages coming up in the local timeline, if so it's not obvious to me which one. Could it be the 'less public' setting for my messages? What would prevent my messages to come up in the local instance timeline?
@ton I know you are testing the tech, but what's the point of a local timeline with two people? Are you making a company chat of sorts?
QOTO has a local-only feature which is close to what you wanted.. it posts ONLY to the local timeline and to local followers home feed and wont federate outside your server. Sadly vanilla mastodon doesnt have this though.
@freemo @ton @elmine hmm, at @edgeryders some years ago we opted for the Matrix as sour corporate chat. I guess if we were to set it up now we would spin up s Mastodon instance instead.
@freemo so generally there is no 'within instance only' level in mastodon, but it's 'public stuff from this instance'? From a community building perspective to me that seems cutting out a key layer of granularity in the interaction.
