Ok just read the article... so i see the article claiming she threatened to impeach.. but then when i read every single quote int e article while she had plenty of criticisms not once did she say anything about impeaching.
We all know Vox is hyper biased, so lets stick to the facts... where in that article do they provide the quote/source/fact that i can verify that there was a threat of an impeachment? The article claims it was in an interview, yet none of the quotes from that interview back it up... so looks like your 9 seconds of googling was a failure.
PS: I had already googled and read that article before you posted it, and already noticed its complete lack of a quote or source where impeachment was threatened or even hinted at.
For anyone following the thread here is are the specific quotes being used to claim that the republicans are threatening to impeach, I will let the quotes speak for themselves:
"Elections have consequence and the fact that, a couple days after the swearing in, people are already talking about impeachment really makes impeachment seem like it's something that's more casual or cavalier than it should be,"
"The idea that we're going to immediately start an impeachment process is probably too radical. I want to look and see, does she recuse herself on cases where she is prejudged? That to me is something that is at the oath of office and what she said she was going to do to uphold the Constitution. That, to me, is a serious offense."
@freemo @RenewedRebecca @georgetakei yep, the last part makes it quite clear:
If she knocks down their gerrymandering, they'll impeach.
There's no other way to read it
Spoken in the usual politicial tone, and not hard commit... but yea, I agree, its a threat, and not a great job at being subtle, despite the attempt.
@EyalL @freemo @RenewedRebecca @georgetakei
It's worse than that. The threat is that if she doesn't RECUSE from the gerrymandering case they will impeach.
My understanding is that upon a vote to impeach a Wisconsin judge is suspended and cannot sit on cases, i.e. effective recusal forced by the egregiously gerrymandered legislature.
@joeinwynnewood @freemo @RenewedRebecca @georgetakei and then they can sit on it and wait with the trial, so that the governor doesn't appoint a replacement
If they start impeachment proceedings, the people should massively protest and strike and block the whole state

He's saying they won't impeach *yet*, only if she doesn't recuse herself. So it's a threat indeed
