@realcaseyrollins You realize this has been the pattern **every** time this happens with israel... I showed yout he death toll in past conflicts... usually israel kills something like 10x to 15x the people of hamas every round, and most of them tend to be children due tot he indiscriminate nature of their attacks.
@realcaseyrollins Yes we both know that both sides have a history of using children as human shields.
Here is the report from the UN itself by the way confirming the numbers:
@realcaseyrollins Fair point.. the one that said it was 24 hours was new york post but i dont have that link anymore.
@realcaseyrollins Nevermind, I was qwrong. I just reread it and found it. It was 400 in the last 24 hours, 5000 since oct 7.
Ill delete my post and repost
@freemo 👍🏾👍🏾 Or an edit would be fine too, so that the thread isn’t broken
@realcaseyrollins They cite the specific sources for individual situational death tolls in the situation report. Most of them come from UN groups in the latest report at least.
@freemo Do those tolls tally up to 5k? I do think I the article it cites about 1.4k deaths of children, which is from a separate source, I think, good on them for doing that.
@realcaseyrollins There are a **lot** of those reports. I cant say I added them up myself. But the UN at least claims those reports as a source for those numbers, so I presume they did the math, I tend to trust the UN enough that they would not lie so outright.
@freemo Can you send me the link? It’s not in the article you shared.
@realcaseyrollins for the article or the situational report... I just closed it again but i can find you a situational report if you want.
@freemo The only thing I could find was this:
But it doesn’t match your description at all.
@realcaseyrollins that is one of them. Notice it has phrases like "According to OCHA 91 Palestinians have been killed".. in that case OCHA is the group that did the reporting.
@freemo Hrmm. Despite #Hamas’ over-reporting, I’d expect a tally of 1,000 dead Palestinians at least. But here are the tallies from that page, excluding #Hamas’ numbers:
Killed #UNRWA staff: 35 ( source: #UNRWA)
Palestinians: 2 (source: #PRCS)
Palestinians & East Jerusalem: 91 (source: #OCHA)
Seems that #Hamas has the only tally of cumulative Palestinian deaths so far.
@realcaseyrollins yea the 5k is cummulative
@freemo Also, those numbers did come from #Hamas, as the #TimesOfIsrael reported
And even the link you shared insinuated:
The number of people killed in Gaza has exceeded 5,000 according to latest reports from de facto authorities there
@realcaseyrollins They have come from multiple sources inteh area (as the UN explained)...
@freemo Where? It also later says that they’re citing media using the Ministry Of Health as their primary source:
Latest media reports citing the Gaza Ministry of Health indicate that the number of people killed in Gaza since 7 October has risen to 5,087.
@realcaseyrollins They dont, they come from multiple sources, the Hamas, as well as various groups ont he ground. The individual situational reports list the incidents and death tolls and which group reports it.
@freemo Is that in a different article? Why didn’t they cite those sources in the article they shared since they’d be more accurate?
@realcaseyrollins Do you not follow the UN's reporting of the situation? They mention it a bit indirectly in the article I posted (listing individual situational reports along side specific numbers of specific groups). But the reading of their articles in general it is quite clear the reporting is coming from the situational reports that **they** issue which includes the up to date numbers and death tolls.. one such report is linked int he article we are discussing.
In those reports it goes through and lists each incident, the deaths, and which UN agency on the ground reported it.. the un is all about keeping the other groups accountable so they go out of their way to keep a detailed accounting of who is reported, why, and from what source, most of which are UN sources. Just read throught he UN reporting they make it quite clear what the chain of accountability is.
@freemo Wait that doesn’t say what you said in your OP. I did know that the official toll crossed 5k, what surprised me was that you said the #IDF killed that many people within 24 hours, which isn’t even what this article says.
