:blobcatgooglybadumtss: trump gave us a great SCOTUS!

:blobcatthumbsup: fascism is good actually
:blobfox: what about freedom of speech
:blobcatthumbsup: as long as they blame russia its legal to censor people
:blobfox: what about improper use of national security letters to hide other abuses
:blobcatthumbsup: what part of fascism is good did you not understand

:neocat_thonk: its time to xbps-remove the courts

@icedquinn I should read up on these cases. The only major one I remember offhand was the #RoeVWade overturn

@realcaseyrollins they unironically said its ok if biden has the fbi terrorize "private" companies because those companies chose to comply.

and then again said its unironically ok to censor talking about the government censoring people
@realcaseyrollins it is becoming a strongly held belief the courts need to be evicted and replaced with a completely election-free system that is not beholden to stupid political crap. draft people to be judges and put a hard limit on service time.

we need actual reasonable people in charge, not "reasonable person" "tests"

@icedquinn IDK if I’d go that far. It is good for the people to be able to influence who becomes the next #SCOTUS judges, nowadays people do this largely by voting for president.

I do agree that something needs to be done to limit the length of the terms though. You could either do time limits, or set a minimum age requirement.

@realcaseyrollins society was worried about minimum ages and never asked if we should have instead set maximum ages :neocat_woozy:

i absolutely would though. courts are not there to be 'influenced'. courts are not there to have opinions. they are there to check cases against laws and only cases in front of them against laws the legislature has written.

republican democracy is for the people who set policy, and has been an abject disaster for the judiciary (as one can see it has become common for them to fire and replace croneys since the bush and later obama admins, or billionaires having agents installed as in modern lawfare cases.)

@icedquinn

No, we shouldnt have either, and the idea of either seems awfully silly to me at least.

@realcaseyrollins

@freemo @realcaseyrollins i don't really mind having an age of majority. i would have it permanently set to whatever the minimum age for military service was though. you're an adult, or not, and that's it.

@icedquinn

On that we agree. I meant in regards to minimum and/or maximum wage.

@realcaseyrollins

@icedquinn

Actually we half agree on age, it just wasnt what iw as refering to and not the discussion i wanted to get into (as its a harder one to argue and/or solve)
