@szczur
There is a part of me that thinks Israel keeps hamas in power by being intentionally ineffective. This way they have an excuse to go to war and genocide more people year after year and take their land.
During the time they had some "peace" when i was there before the big war started I remember how they were talking about taking more land from them even though they werent actively fighting a the time. Many isralis didnt like that jews were taking their settlements during peace time. Cant say I'm surprised that pissed them off.
@freemo Exactly. The entire situation just feels off. Like it’s a ruse commited for political reasons in which Israelis have a reason to put a question mark between Palestinians and animals and Palestinians are basically terrorised so much they turn to Hamas even more. It’s fucked up.
It makes sense especially since Nentayahu had some inner turmoil to deal with. And nothing unifies people more than a common enemy. The timing is just too great.
@szczur I mean even if his plan was to let this happen.. it was still hamas that did it. At worst Israel just never seriously tried to exterminate them. So we cant exactly give either side a pass here.
That said the palestinians were there first, sot here is that.
@szczur Im not suggesting they kill themselves.
Ideally they never would have invaded, but at this point we are passed that. If they intend to stay and resolve the issue, the ethical approach would be 1) never keep land perminantly 2) go in, occupy the space, putin a transitional government for a few years and establish democracy and rule of law. Transition the land back to them once democracy seems to be thriving.
Sadly their past of them just stealing the land, kicking everyone off of it, then taking it for their own is appaling, and generally unheard of in military encounters (even if land is taken people generally can remain on it if they are there).. .so their track record would probably make it hard for anyone to trust they would ever give the land back if they did that.
So an ideal in my mind (but wont happen) is if some third-party invaded both of them and dissolved the israel AND the palestinian govt.
@szczur sadly the only real solution that feels good would require a time machine :)
Unfortunately. Or just not funding Hamas by Israel.
@szczur if they are funding them that would be pretty messed up. I was more thinking they just dont persue them to conclusion intentionally.
@freemo I mean, it’s a well established fact. Hamas rose to power in rapid because it was largely funded by Israel.
@szczur Oh, no, that narrative is a new one to me.. If its a well established fact with good evidence for it, not just speculation, then I'd be curious to see it.
Well, I’ve heard it first on an expert panel on my University. It was painfully Israel-centric but they had brought it up, I could look for the souces. I’m just afraid since my English is pretty scuffed and I don’t know reputable English sources it would have been a miss.
@szczur if clear evidence is presented I'd like to hear that... some random people just saying its so means very little to me however.
@freemo I’ll look it up.
@freemo
British Palestine bis I guess. I don’t know, I don’t really trust any superpower to make it fair. And turning it into a semi-colony in 2020’s sounds off.
