Lower Your PC Power Supply =
Less Electricity / Less Money

or Use older computer?

Using older computer might help here to run less power / less consumption during idle (which is most of the time)

and generally

Less PC Power = Less Money

EXAMPLES (Technical and metaphorical)

1A. Use 50W-500W power supply instead of 750->1KW

1B. it's also possible you have an older computer with low PSUnit that you can leave on all the time if you're in and out a lot doing gardening or just for checking mails)

Less Power = Save electricity (Less money spent)

2. Graphics Cards - Disable to use motherboard GFX or unplug most powerful (sometimes you have 2 GFX cards and don't need the gaming or dual screen so much - so in times of saving energy / money well it's back to the oldschool)
GFX cards suck energy. And maybe are not the useful really until you make videos THAT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the world.

In general this is about the idle running time being what needs saving as always on = $ and perhaps restricting the habits like gaming means also a welcome tweak to paying for electricity that is now 300%-???% in a short time and mostly nobody knows how much it's gone up over time
(I didn't see any stats of electric prices but anyway regardless it's good to spend less now...)

In the other sense metaphorically:

Less consumption = Less power monetarily

...where it's useful to use all these things... the Matrix has also planned to take your life if it comes under threat itself (i.e. when people had enough paying it's greed) so by charging you it can restrict you / take your savings...

Good to keep in mind and read consumption of things - I don't even know the MAX nowadays but if you have 1KW PSU / 1000W it's very easy to count per hour just for computer on... multiply by 24hrs a day?

@freeschool

Can agree that most people don't need the newest PC/laptop model. Plus the same people don't even think of why they need the computer in the first place. They read some articles of what is good and that's it. Like what is your main use for the computer? And secondly can you achieve similar results with an already existing device like your phone?

I for a long time was using the integrated GPU in the CPU, which suffices for most people's use case and only recently bought a GPU so that I can use three monitors at once. I tried all other options, because I was against buying a graphics card. In the end sheet exhausting all other options, there was no choice.

The only users that need a high-end GPU are crypto miners, digital media creation, and gamers. For the rest of us the integrated one works just fine.

@barefootstache Lower grade cards will still display well and are lying around somewhere!... So sometimes old-but plentiful / cheap 1mb+ cards (or 8mb for luxury) can be used so GPU + 2 PCI slots in your cards (I think PCI-E was made backwardly compatible but I wonder if the very first PCI video cards would work in anything modern!!)
And perhaps more stability with Voodoo / Rage and those kinds of things which broke the barriers of video games in its time...

@barefootstache
Oh yeah forgot to say:
- "3 monitors!?"
and
- "what a waste of monitors!"

I'm sure you put them to good use... occasionally but having 3 monitors sounds a lot like the using more rather than less I was originally talking about... I'd store them and use them as backups / emergency rather than 3 on all the time [slaps face] but I still trust you thought about it... so I rest my case and leave it in your multi-monitor hands!

@freeschool the question is always convenience and efficiency. Like I can do everything with one monitor, but then would have play around with the settings a bit too much to get the optimal presentation. Also switching between windows is a hassle and if your short-term memory is poor one will being doing it quite often.

The only feature I really care about these days is if the operating system has multiple workspaces. Then it is quite doable with one monitor.

On a side note, I get to work with one monitor for the next two months.

@barefootstache
Maybe a monitor switch might be useful here... just to flick between them... but more if the machines are closer to each other rather than running longer cables / switch boxes...
