+ PIXEL TRACKING
TikTok tracks activity across the web without using it's app
It uses its own pixel-trackers in browser
TikTok has partnered with hundreds of organisations to collect data on people as they browse the Internet. (investigation by Consumer Reports on the video-sharing app)
The organisations teamed up as partner embed TikTok trackers dubbed “pixels” in their websites, which lets them gather data for ad-targeting within the TikTok app.
The ususal information in the trackers
- your IP address, the page visited, and what you clicked, typed, and searched for.
Among the websites containing TikTok pixels were United Methodist Church, WebMD, Weight Watchers, Planned Parenthood, many more like a Google Syndicate.
A TikTok spokesperson said the data was used to improve the effectiveness of its advertising services.
Much the same as was happening with Meta/Facebook before so don't be surprised about new demons and evolved ones..
While you laugh... they laugh back.
