ANSWERING QUESTIONS
WHY MASTODON GROUPS & PROFILES DON'T REALLY WANT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS (REASONS)
- "WASTE OF TIME" 🕛
- DEMANDS PATIENCE ⌛ / MORE FEELINGS 💗
- MASTODON PEOPLE ARE MORE CLEVER SO HARDER AS OPPONENTS TO DEBATE! 🧠
- SKILL GAP OF AUDIENCE
- MACHINES MORE ENJOYABLE THAN FIXING PEOPLE 💻 🙍
OPTIONAL DEEPER EXPLANATION:
I like your sentiments NekoSock but as far as I can see getting people on Mastodon opens them up in many possible unrewarding ways.
Below explains that.
MASTODON PEOPLE ARE CLEVER
People are probably far more intelligent here so preaching to the choir but also will get cleverly heckled too for flaws. it will expose them to some level that groups or companies can't keep up with even though ideal they might want to solve it all).
TIME
People / groups often DON'T WANT TO ENGAGE WITH THEIR PUBLIC (been like this for ages). IT'S MORE WORK!
or happy to say it ion other ways (I'm not hating) but generally it's practical mostly about why and why not.
TRY IT YOURSELF SEND A QUESTION!
So you can try it yourself with many eff / open source / floss / even individuals - if they are big enough they some will not reply which is often rightly not to spend all their life here but also it's used as a mirror, message echo account, alternative source for news etc - not for actual conversation.
They do not want to spend time talking, debating and even converting people.
This would involve dealing with personal things (which OF COURSE is the whole point of life) but nobody really wants to do this or allocates sitting time... and yes a forum really helps but the lack of human interaction and representation and human quality SUCKS ASS (it seems).
I can see how it's problematic (people are generally) BUT AVOIDANCE
IS EVEN MORE PROBLEMATIC!
OPEN SPACES?
I could have it wrong and happy to hear where there are places to talk, where it's welcomed and not like chasing people and forcing them into a corner. PRO-ACTIVE.
I believe this is why people don't respond and even Protonmail @protonmail
(MAYBE NOT or not now BUT SIMILAR I've seen) they decide to be one-way info...
Even at the reason of being split with Twitter this still needs solving...
This could have all change or not be the case but I doubt it (ask yourself how often you open yourself up to people or start talking to them humanly on tough or political subjects -
WE'RE ALL OUT OF PRACTISE)
You see it also in the bio
"This is just a bot-only account"
"Messages are not monitored by human"
"Use discord for q/a"
Yes it takes a lot of time.
I think it's worth it, many don't think it's worth it.
PEOPLE LIKE FIXING MACHINES MORE THAN PEOPLE (and lost training too)
Many rather try change minds in some other way than actually audio chat with them and sort it out.... hmm doesn't work too well always indirectly
🧠
SKILL GAPS / KNOWLEDGE-GAPS OF AUDIENCE
I thought I'd also add in their defense (again not hating) that people don't like the skill gap or to tell people ("err sounds like you don't actually know what you're talking about" and levelling people or even schooling them so they 'get the real picture' and well I think that's good too but some never did some of this)
ENGINEER WANTS TO ONLY TALK TO ENGINEER (A MISTAKE)
so you end up with people ONLY WANTING TO TALK TO PROGRAMMERS.... and that is the death of the world / not reaching others or self-training everyone with everyone else (even if you main thing is talking to programmers JUST A BIT MORE ONCE A WEEK!).
The short-loop-mentality can be effective but very limiting in the human sense (as we se and are trained in Capitalism)
In theory (at least in my head) once we have text and organising in something like Mastodon why can't we fix everything with everyone!?! or just have small circles to harmonise EVERYTHING !
Increment is one of the only ways but still I feel for human things we try one-shot / long-shot things which hardly ever can work or last long.
COMES DOWN TO BELIEVING IT OR NOT ABOUT FIXING HUMANS
I think it's possible to fix assumptions / believes and perceptions but many don't AND THEY (the programmers) maybe don't have teh skill, will or forsight to see it's HUMANS THAT FIX THINGS NOT MACHINES (EVEN THOUGH THEY WORK LIKE ONE)
*** and that's the appeal of machines I believe 0101010101010 ***
People who want to fix people will take any questions. Others might think fixing machines helps humanity
