@Wintermute_BBS @f4grx Hi basic question and just to see what you think...What would be the modern use for something like this or what would you hope for / imagine ?
@freeschool @f4grx unforunately, most people like to get distracted by coloful piccys, animations and videos these days, but that doesn't make BBS tech obsolete or useless.
My main intention was to learn how BBSes worked on CP/M and provide a place #rc2014 users could connect to when having built the WiFi modem module.
Additional hope was to build a community based around the #rc2014 in true, old-school fashion - which did not work due to people's additcion of getting distracted, as mentioned above.
Since the C code is available, you could turn this into any text based service you'd like it to be. Unless, well - distraction and such ...

Maybe the bus scene also encouraged (also from lack of other ways) people to meet up or discover new things as well as the noticeboard or data store type usage.
If it would encourage the people things some how (I know this is somewhat off topic but also touches on origin of bbs maybe) then I could see that as a clean and deliberately minimal thing which everything else kinda evolved from as over-sterioded verso peraphs... anyway.. just an interesting topic for me and maybe towards people getting together or rediscovering things without all the bloat and tech death all the while for so little interaction...

@freeschool @f4grx there are indeed individuals who keep visiting BBSes regularly, on purpose and to this day, because they prefer the text only presentation of content as it does force you to focus on the topic.
