It's obviously not just stupidity alone to make people think or infer on them that computers are intelligent or at the least can do stuff fast.
In reality it's people's mass efforts *merged* with computers so a huge purpose-driven effort by mankind AND computers which achieves at least a type of intelligence.
Not sure people can be called stupid for given credit to what is a combined effort by humans and computers which increment their own evolution... While having massive weakness yes.
So yes on the basics people = stupid ...
and maybe computers also (pardon me dear machine) which probably proves my confusing point about people and computers together.
