It's a shame they got rid of the 10 point courses, they did cost around £150 each, but at least I got to do a certificate in science by completing 6 when i was able to.

Courses are just too expensive in one go.

They are! The price tags I saw were b/w £3000 and 20000...
Why did they got rid of the point courses?
Do you know if they have an alternative?
Quite a few online courses have mellowed their price due to Covid.
Maybe they did the same...

@globcoco @freemo It was when the government brought in higher tuition fees, so maybe the rules changed on what they could offer,
£20k would be for a full degree i guess, where as £3000 is per course, which is probably equivalent to a year at uni.

Only open to 18-24 year olds. I feel anything we promote should be open to anyone of any age.

After all there are code of conducts within free software projects about equality.

So sure there may be some lower age limits but no upper age limits.

Not sure if this is the right way to go about things, but I just feel everything these days is about Young people and after a certain age you're on a sort of scrap heap

I agree with you.

Just wondering if they focus on this age range because they can give them specialized teaching with a lot of attention to get their energy channeled...

They seem to help these kids who are excluded to get their confidence building.

But yes we may also need this.

@globcoco @freemo Ah yeah, Totnes, a local town here in Devon has a lot of people who are in to this.

The tech jam was involved with a project, however one of the people we worked with (well sort of ) was in to the communication networks found with fungai, (microcondria or something)

If we can get someone like that on board, here, it may really boost us, I suspect a lot of people would prefer the way the fediverse works, given that Totnes tried to block a Costa Coffee from opening, in support of all the small independent shops.
