@gpowerf What do you feel makes it nicer?
I know that on Twitter it's easy to start seeing political posts and rapidly get "wound up", but I thought the gaming community over on Twitter was fine. I enjoy/enjoyed seeing what people had tweeted, retweeted and liked.
I imagine that it's possible to get the same experience here once you follow enough people, but for the moment it still feels a little "closed off" and my feed feels a bit empty. It takes that little bit more effort to seek people out.
Thinking as I type this, I guess that's maybe a good thing. 🤔 It's the odd inflammatory post slipped into the Twitter feed that keeps you "hooked". It's much easier to step away from Mastodon after a few minutes of catching up with the people that you follow. On the flip side, that could also be Mastodon's downfall - if it doesn't keep people engaged enough, they'll just stop using it and find something better to do.
@gpowerf That's pretty sad. Let's hope that Mastodon doesn't go the same way. I was a "lurker" on Twitter with a semi-anonymous username. I decided that, since I actively went out of my way to avoid political discourse and other controversial topics on Twitter, maybe I should just "be myself" here.
As others have said, using Mastodon has the feeling of the early days, using IRC etc. I _do_ like that aspect. There's a greater sense of community here, which was missing over on Twitter. As you say, people seem more thoughtful here.
