@georgetakei this would be the Musk equivalent of COS (China Operating System). Which will be hard to popularise as it isn’t backed by something quite as influential as the Chinese Government.
@gpowerf @georgetakei I'm using (very occasionally) Twitter purely via webapp currently (due to the absurd unclearable data cache it takes up) & it's actually practically the same experience as app, except for Spaces (which I never use as it's all crypto bros). But Google services are kinda janky on mobile web. Then you may also not get things like contact and calendar sync which would also be a tremendous blocker for many. Long story short he's blustering.
@wiredfire @georgetakei I use Twitter on the Web on iOS and Android anyway. I don’t install apps unless I really need them.
@georgetakei @gpowerf a good way to be. I like when an app gives a faster, better, experience. I dislike when it's about the same but with eating up more storage & harvesting more data, heh.
@gpowerf @georgetakei anything Musk did cook up would 100% be a fork of Android. So he could leverage plenty of open source apps to be available (unless said apps rather quickly changed their license to be less permissive), & would enable those happy to follow his nonsense to with almost zero effort list their Android apps on this hypothetical device.
Still, without Google apps & others he'd be limited to webapps for key things which is.. inconsistent
