Just logged into Twitter for the 1st time in a while. Curious if the API shutdown killed Talon, my paid, ad-free, timeline pure Twitter client for more than a decade.
Yup. It's dead. Fuck you, Elon.
@kurtsh our paid for applications are dead, people who worked on these are out of a job, and the little companies that created these apps will go down. Elon doing a lot of great work there.

@kurtsh I read the same article and I am inclined to think that Elon is desperate as you say. Loan payments are coming up and Twitter isn't generating anywhere near enough cash to pay for itself. Bankruptcy is looking very likely.
@gpowerf All this stupid stuff Elon Musk is doing:
1. Selling verified accounts
2. Taking money for political ads
3. Eliminating ethics policies & filters
4. Unbanning Trump, etc.
5. Cutting 75% of Twitter employment
6. Stiffing partners for services rendered
7. Forcing users to use the official client
...this is all penny ante shit. Petty cash. None of this'll generate $1B & screams desperation. It's so dumb that I think it's more likely performative drama to 'show banks he's trying'.
