@darth you can today in some parts of the world. The Toyota Mirai is exactly that. :)

Hydrogen's not really a good solution. It's dirty to produce (mostly from methane) and is (currently) expensive when produced cleanly (electrolysis). It's hard/expensive to transport as it occupies a large volume by weight so must be liquefied first. It's also hard to store as it damages metals it comes into contact with over time.

For buses, large boats and large vehicles there might be a decent use case, but I don't think it has a future in cars.

@mackaj @darth there are a lot of issues with refills too. Frozen nozzles are common.

Standard batteries seem way more practical to me. If you really care about super fast charge times then get a NIO and hope NIO builds plenty of swapping stations around your location.

I like the idea of EV overlanding. You can generate electricity anywhere relatively easily and if extended camping is not an issue that totally fine.

@gpowerf @darth

Yeah agree. Even camping isn't a bother if you've got one of these near by :)

@mackaj @darth perfect! Sadly there are no EV 4x4 trucks here yet other than a 2WD by Maxus which isn't rated to tow much... So that doesn't cut it.

@gpowerf @darth

They mention that in the video too as they have the same problem in Australia

@mackaj @darth I saw yeah. I really wish the Lightning would come out here too.
