The Atari Keyboard Controller was a 12 buttoned device for the Atari 2600.
You could combine two of them together to program the VCS using the BASIC programming cartridge by Warren Robinett
Programs were limited to 96 characters, so you wasn't going to be able to code the next Yars' Revenge
