I had to run an errand (driving) this morning and we need to do a long-ish drive this evening, and my car only has about half a tank of fuel left. When I got home, I connected the car to my charging socket, and set it to go at the full 30A speed. My car will be fully charged by the time we need to leave. This is awesome. EVs are awesome.

One un-written-about thing I never thought I'd notice about EV driving is no longer having to go to petrol stations. Because you have one at home! I never really liked filling the car with fuel. And now I never will have to again.

In the past month I’ve been driving four different cars, 3 ICE cars including a rather nice Merc SL320 plus a Tesla Model Y. The first excursion in the Tesla was well within ‘fueled’ range (set out at 92% charge, home at 42%). The second was much further, and ‘refuelling’ was totally straightforward (first a 50kW CCS port and, later, a Supercharger). I was familiar with the recharging locations having driven past many times.
It’s not, in the short term, feasible to trade my car for an eV but it’ll be the next. Just not having my hand stink of diesel after fueling would be an improvement!
