Having worked with browsers for a very long time, I'm just going to point out that making a modern browser is exceptionally difficult. There are LOTS of hidden costs and gotchas ranging from CVE protections, to back-end service supports, to even just getting anyone to work on it at all.

That's one of the big reasons a lot of folk just glommed onto WebKit. Someone else is footing that particular bill.

It's not impossible, but it ain't easy.

Everything looks small from a distance.

And while I work for mozilla, I don't always support a lot of the executive decisions. That's been true for everywhere I've worked.

If you want to influence decisions:
1) Use Firefox with Telemetry On.
(That's how we get feedback about things.)
2) Use things like connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/i to let folk know what you want or don't want. (Like the return of the RSS button)
3) Contribute. As in: Write code. Submit PRs. Be active.

@jrconlin I have had telemetry turned off in Firefox, but will change this setting now. Keep up the good work!
