Excellent 4D Flow Cardiac-MRI scan showing a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).
The ductus arteriosus is a normal part of thebfetal circulatory system in and usually closes shortly after birth due to changes in pressure occurring as the newborn starts breathing.
If the duct remains open, it creates a persistent opening between the systemic and pulmonary circulations, with a potential left-right blood shunt (oxygenated blood flowing backwards to the lungs).
