I finally got back on my #bike after a three-week hiatus (discounting a quick jaunt to the local supermarket). It’s a good feeling and there don’t seem to be any lingering effects of illness. As it started to #rain lightly, I experienced that lovely familiar fragrance of earth you get when the rain hits dry ground. It would have been worth it just for that.

Somebody just informed me that the scent is called "petrichor".

From #Wikipedia:
Petrichor (/ˈpɛtrɪˌkɔːr/)[1] is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word is constructed from Ancient Greek πέτρα (pétra) 'rock', or πέτρος (pétros) 'stone', and ἰχώρ (ikhṓr), the ethereal fluid that is the blood of the gods in Greek mythology

I have to explain the word whenever I read Saili Katebe's poem 'Cannons' at The Secret Garden here in Symi.
