As I plod away at dissertation editing, I just want to remind all of you to backup your important documents. And to remind you to backup your stuff to more than one location.
As I learned back in library school: LOCKSS (Lots Of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe).

@librarianshipwreck When I was writing my dissertation I tracked revisions using the source code revision control system Mercurial (I was writing it in LaTeX, which may make it more appropriate), and I think I pushed that to a private BitBucket repo online for redundancy. I can't imagine the anguish if one were to lose one's dissertation draft.
