Duolingo has confirmed it's offboarded (such a nice euphemism for layoffs) about 10% of its contractors who work on translation partially due to AI being able to do their jobs.

I shared some screenshots of layoff mails earlier but people asked for proof. I hope this shows this wasn't just a random post on reddit.

@carnage4life I have to say that this motivates me to find another language app. I don't really want to use a stochastic parrot as my reference. I imagine they may think that they're having humans check the output, but that's not really the sort of things humans are good at in large volume.
