web standards have proven themselves to scale through the years. web browsers auto upgrade meaning that code isn't only backwards compatible but also forwards compatible.

this is way better than depending on a build step. esp if the use case is generating html !

every day I see devs struggling w transpile steps, broken source maps, bad errors. its terrible DX and wish more spoke up about it.

@brianleroux Babel. Ugh. I've had the pleasure of not needing to look at the docs in a couple of years (owing to browser support not necessitating it). I always found it to be a massively complex time-sink, probably in part because I only needed to tweak it every few months so never really got into a habit with it. Awful, awful DX.

Unless you need to support really old browsers, I consider Babel obsolete, same as jQuery. Thank you for your years of outstanding service, but your services are no longer required.

@jgg @brianleroux I helped convince an old lead that we should ditch jQuery by default on new projects. It was wonderfully liberating and my JavaScript knowledge increased as well.
