One reason I just can’t use the bird site anymore is because it’s filled with profiles deifying Musk. These people will rabidly attack anyone with the slightest criticism. And this is not a rare thing. It’s super creepy.

I just don't remember cults of personality being this prevalent 20 years ago. Was it all televangelists and celeb-worship back then and I just didn't notice?

Remember Steve Jobs, Michael Jackson, Hitler... All of them were idolized by many people. And they weren't nice people at all. People wants to worship people. The difference is now is more evident with social media. And polarizing times make people exacerbate their leanings.
