Free software community has outgrown FSF, making it nearly obsolete.

That's what usually happens when someone starts to advocate something new and has a wild success: it gets mainstream, adopting an unexpected shape that can adapt to most of people needs and desires. And then the founder may as well retire. His work is done.

Or he may adapt to the new shape. But it is his choice. We are tremendously grateful anyway. He earned it.
