If you don't [fix my bug | respond to my post | reply to my toot] I will [return my device to the store | give you a bad review | complain to the CEO], but if you *do* [fix | reply | acknowledge], I will [argue and make you regret it | thank you profusely and pretend I never threatened you with anything, ever].

@lorihc As hopefully bit of a counterbalance, I will say: thank you for everything you and your teams do. And thanks for participating here even though I'm sure it's painful and thankless at times. I have worked at highly-visible companies on widely-used products, and I am all too familiar with the kinds of challenges involved in that.

@lorihc One of the “perks” of being open about what you work on I guess

@thattridentdude That was more a general commentary on the tone of some bug reports and forum posts. Not sure why folks feel the need to include an implicit or explicit threat in their request for help or change.

@lorihc Ah I see, I thought it was a taste of the replies you get here

This makes it actually worse imho, especially if were big reports from devs

Plus, they’re such dumb threats to begin with, as if it somehow ups the stakes for you if someone threatens to take the device back for a refund

You get more flies with honey than with vinegar and all that good stuff, even when you might be (rightfully) frustrated
