Pro-crypto people need to face the fact that there are some projects that are super shady.

Anti-crypto people need to face the fact that there are some banks that are super shady.

Thing is, pro-crypto people are Progressive, i.e. they believe the status quo is bad enough that we should experiment to find something better.

Anti-crypto people are Conservative, i.e. they believe status quo isn't bad enough to warrant the risk associated with experimentation.

That's jumping the gun there... I'd normally be pro-crypto, but it I'm concerned about the environmental impact it might have. Perhaps if the world went with more green energy, I'd feel better.

@lucifargundam
That is entirely valid, you are expressing a healthy level of Conservatism. Balancing progress with risk mitigation is an extremely complex topic and everybody has a different appetite for risk.

Now I think there's a very good chance that this constant, location-independent, artificial demand for energy improves the economics of renewables enough to offset the short-term increase in coal usage.

But this should be seriously studied. Right now it's journalists adding up the hash-rate, computing the total kilowatts of energy, converting it to equivalent CO2 and writing scare articles which is not scientific.
