@lupyuen I match linkedin to an HR facebook but where everything is even more wonderful and everyone is inspirational and it seems to be getting worse. Of course the job listing is a great way to find new opportunitites, but i feel everyone is forced to be fake or else they might fear/risk of becoming umemployable. Its like a facebook with suits.
@lupyuen I closed my account just before the Microsoft acquisition. The constant striving and seeing everything through the prism of business was a turn off. Viewing your contacts as a network of resources to draw on for business instead of people you'd like to know (best expressed by Reid Hoffman in "The Start-up of You") is soulless and empty to me. I couldn't stand to leave that account there. I just had to get off and hope I'd still be able to make a living.
@lupyuen « Toxic positivity » what a strange term … but totally true in this case 😅
