One of the differences between this place and Twitter is that I see much less breaking and urgent news on my home timeline here than I do over there. I’m not sure if that’s an artifact of who I happen to follow, different cultural notms, or smaller scale, but it’s definitely a difference. (Not saying it’s good or bad, but disseminating crisis and emergency information has been a useful, if sometimes problematic, aspect of Twitter).
