What brought me here, and what might drive me elsewhere 

There's a lot I like about the structure of Mastodon and the Fediverse (open source, decentralized policy, lack of built-in surveillance, etc). And there's a lot I don't like about what I'm learning about Post (inverse of all of the above).

But that's not what brought me here. What brought me here is that this is where my friends ended up. If they move to Post, I'll probably follow them.

The network effect is all that matters in the end.

@mattblaze To be fair, there is nothing preventing one from having both an account here and an account there, especially if the question of platform dominance remains unresolved for a considerable amount of time (which is quite possible). I have had my handles on the Fediverse for almost 5 years at this, and I intend to remain in the Fediverse.

That being said...you are correct about network effects and dominance, and not everyone is as terminally online as I am.
