From the headline I was hoping it was something that might give specific insights into early avian evolution, but it sounds a lot more general than that. Oh well, I have to give them credit for focusing on the bird angle rather than defaulting to "T. rex relative." 😀
@DynaSore I mean, I have nothing against tyrannosaurs. Really. But the way ol' Rexy is the default for every dinosaur story, and even paleo story generally, just drives me nuts.
I'm tempted to write "a relative of T. rex" every time I mention any living organism. I mean, it's true, right?
@medigoth Well, you know how it is with the general media. Everything is measured against T. rex. I like T. rex as much as the next guy, but we don't have to compare everything to it.
