Liver disease is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular outcomes - a UK Biobank study medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/20

@medrxivpreprint CLD & CVD share common risk factors; the former is associated with a two-fold greater incidence of CVD. With most CLD being preventable/modifiable, early identification of at high-risk individuals is crucial. CVD events in 4% of people independently associated with evidence of CLD These results suggest the MRI-derived biomarker cT1 has a promising role to play in risk stratification of those at greatest risk of CVD morbidity & mortality.
