Enchant your ears! Looking for some awesome stories to enchant your ear? Then you've come to the right place! I need content that's going to make my blood boil, make me laugh outright, and keep me engaged. For those of you who still think (as I once did) that audio isn't as good as reading text, make sure you read the research section at the end of this blog entry! mguhlin.org/2017/12/enchant-yo @bookstodon

@mguhlin @bookstodon I love audiobooks. One other important thing for me is the narrator. That person can make or break the experience.

@EquineMom @bookstodon Yes, agree. R.C. Bray, John Lee are two of my favorites on Audible. My all time favorite audiobooks are the Arisen series (zombies of course) with Bray, and Terry Mancour’s Spellmonger series with John Lee. The latter is hilarious. Horror and scifi fantasy blends.

@mguhlin @bookstodon I am a Stephen King fan, not that I necessarily love horror (a lot of his are more in the strange category) but my all time favorite is Pet Sematary with Michael C. Hall (Dexter) as narrator. His reading and performance of that book highlighted the absolute masterful writing.

@EquineMom @bookstodon i get goosebumps with Pet Sematary. My fav is The Stand, a behemoth to listen to or read! After that, Martin’s Sandkings

@mguhlin @bookstodon I find that books, like The Stand, that I would never get through if I were reading it myself, I’m able to finish by listening. It’s a joy to be exposed to more books that way. It was the ONLY way I could get through the entire Outlander series.

@EquineMom @bookstodon - I'm slowly making my way though Outlander - my wife and i had a deal, i'd read Outlander if she'd read The Wheel of Time. She breezed through tWoT (all 14) and i'm on book 3 of Outlander. Argh!

@kcrouth @bookstodon You get gold stars. Having a LOAD of time in the car really helps.

@EquineMom @bookstodon - i've just started the audio book experience - Bruce Springsteen's bio, The Eye of the World (Jordan), Between the World and Me (Coates), The Man They Wanted Me To Be (Sexton) and most recently The Audacity of Hope (Obama) - i pick them up in CD form at used book sales / sellers. I'm notoriously cheap sometimes.

@EquineMom @bookstodon - I love Jimmy Carter - have read several of his - he is special

@EquineMom @bookstodon I gave up on Outlander halfway through book 4. Just could not make myself care about these people anymore, sorry to anyone who's a superfan.

@subobscura @bookstodon There are definitely parts you have to slog through because the storyline lags.

@mguhlin @bookstodon Have you read 11-22-63 by Stephen King? It is amazing. And involves time travel.

@EquineMom @mguhlin @bookstodon

The Name of The Rose read by Sean Barrett &
The Vesuvius Club read by Mark Gatiss (author)

are my current favourites.

I would highly recommend them (depending on your personal tastes of course).
