The doorway to linux: @nemo
@karin_artss @mur2501 Hi mur thx mentioning me <3
Ah yes karin if you need anything feel free to ask you can use etcher you can also use lili, or rufus you could even use ventoy to create a multi usb stick then you can dragn drop several isos to one usb stick if the capacity suffice
here is a list
@nemo @mur2501 Ayyy thank you! :D
I downloaded Virtual Machine and tested out Linux Mint. I was also suggested to try out Ubuntu, Xubuntu and Kubuntu but I'll still just take it easy.
A multibootable USB stick would be pretty cool but I first wanna try out downloading something with Etcher. I'm just afraid that the download process will go wrong :'D
@karin_artss You are welcome, I see, yes feel free to experiment :D its part of then journey etcher is easy to use you need etcher the iso and an empty usb stick then follow the proposals :)@mur2501
@karin_artss ios on a pc? you can only reinstall operating systems which are compatible to your hardware :)@mur2501
@karin_artss And don't forget to backup your important data on a external drive, a harddisk@mur2501@qoto.org
@nemo What would you recommend?
@karin_artss do you have a macintosh laptop?@mur2501
@karin_artss so this here? https://www.apple.com/imac/ with windows and macintos as a dualboot installation, mac is better then windows but dualboot installations are tricky and if you don't have any expierence a reinstallation of a dualboot system can be very challenging :'D @mur2501
@karin_artss Who installed the windows on the first place? Mac devices are not default installed with windows, maybe they now offer this service@mur2501@qoto.org
@nemo Nooooo I have both Acer Aspire 5 and some iMac xD iMac has the least important things and I was thinking of downloading some distros on it, since there aren't many important files and I have copypasted important things on a USB stick :'D
@karin_artss sure of course you can :)
@nemo Ok!
Btw in every OS I tested in VirtualBox (Linux Mint, Manjaro XCFE and Xubuntu) there was a picture of a disc on the desktops and it said something about installation. What does that do?
@karin_artss well that meant that you are running the system in live mode and the disk thing gave you the opportunity to install the OS on the virtual disk
@nemo Okay so it will change things in VM but not on my laptop?
@karin_artss yes
@karin_artss And as always if you need anything feel free to ask namaste 🙏 @mur2501
@karin_artss No problem feel free to ask ;D@mur2501@qoto.org
@mur2501 @nemo Ah yes 🙏
