History is something that very few people have been doing while everyone else was ploughing fields and carrying water buckets.

But ploughing fields and fetching water is also history without which kings and historians would be dead.
@mur2501 absolutely true. But history here meant the tangible stuff like books and monuments that only document the elites. Everyone knows Shah Jahan "made" Taj Mahal, but who knows names of the labourers whose blood and sweat actually went in it?

Can't really blame the writers of that history, they were paid by the same kings 
They would loose their head if the king wasn't pleased with their work

Also more interesting is the history which not comes out of history books.
