I never said about breaking toe nails it just that when you are in a wild environment dealing with stones and other rough surfaces the nail very slowly gets weared out on the edge. so basically it trims the nail in the long run. Also in nature it doesn't matters your nails are a little bigger if they grow too much big to hinder with your daily abilities then you would just die off or be hunted down (natural selection)
