FBI is the primary federal domestic intelligence and law enforcement agency of the USA. It gathers intelligence from inside the USA regarding national security as well as it investigates major crimes which are too sensitive and complex for police to handle.
Normally FBI deals with specific crimes or specific high profile criminals normally related to terrorism, drugs, mass murders, big corporate crimes, etc.

That was just a comment! 🤭
But, anyway, thanks for this! :blobcatwave:

What does intelligence mean here?
Like information about criminal organisations, any data that could be useful for a case?
Something like that?

Intelligence includes everything which FBI thinks will or can affect the US national security. Now ofcourse mostly it is related to crimes, criminals, or a particular case but not always necessary. it depends upon the court what they deem as a threat to security for which FBI can gather data about you or maybe even arrest you.

@strawberryfieldsforever
CIA in contrast to FBI is not a Law Enforcement Agency (which means they can't arrest you for anything) with it's main duty being to collect foreign intelligence do kinda illegal stuffs in other countries for US interest.

@mur2501 @strawberryfieldsforever And the NSA's job is domestic intelligence. All three of these major three-letter agencies can get together if it is deemed necessary, I hear.

@KMemzy @strawberryfieldsforever
All the intelligence agencies are collectively organised into US Intelligence Community(IC) which includes agencies like CIA, NSA, Intelligence Branch of FBI, agencies from all the three branches of the armed forces as well as DEA and others
