Yesterday I came across a 'meme' about the second amendment in the US and it sticked with me..

The second amendment (gun BS law) was created with the Musket in mind that could fire ~max 2 rounds per minute.

These days many (US Fanboys :blobderpverified:) don't have Muskets anymore but AR15's for example. This stupid weapon fires 400 rounds per minute ⚠️ What the actually fucking fuck is what I ask..

For hunting deer? "Protecting" yourself? From what? Aliens?

This shit is one of the things keeping me from moving there. Why would I want ppl around me who think guns are okay and cool..

I call it a sickness.

Fuck guns!

@stux as usual, absolutey wrong. most of the cannons were privately owned in the revolution. merchant ships of the era also carried heavy arms.

@stux

During the course of the Revolution, approximately 1,700 letters of Marque were issued to privateers. In the War of 1812, President James Madison issued more than 500 letters of Marque to privateers. These letters of marque created what was, essentially, legal piracy, and it was sanctioned by the government and even deemed necessary. So how did these privateers arm their vessels? With cannons that they purchased as individuals. Our colonial navy had approximately 1,200 cannons on board less than 65 ships. The privateers, on the other hand, had almost 15,000 cannons – all privately owned. Throughout much of this country’s history, privately-raised militia units have fought side by side with regular artillery units, with the only difference being that these militia units were using cannons that had been privately purchased. Many artillery units in the Civil War were funded privately.

Interesting -- I did not know that!

That said, I think there is some validity to @stux's point: the sort of easily portable, high-powered weapon that is used in the *daily* mass shootings in the US was not widely available at the time.

While I have great respect for the Constitution as a living document, we should also not get too hung up on "what the founding fathers intended", given that most of them were slaveholders.

@peterdrake there are no daily 'mass' shootings. they were relatively unheard of prior to the 2000s.

even after 2000s the total number of events (defined as 3 or more victims) is actually very small.

mass shootings are just what get people in a frenzy so they can sow panic and ram bills through. the actual most dangerous weapons are pistols and the single largest percentage of deaths are suicide.
@peterdrake something that nobody wants to ask or investigate is why does the incidence of mass shooting increasing since 2000s coincide with the rise of prozac/zoloft and why are all the recent mass shooters people who have prescriptions to these very severe drugs that are known to cause absolute psychosis if someone misses a dose.
@icedquinn @peterdrake because federal agents deliberately target mentally ill dudes. even when they did this to Muslims, they were predominantly mentally ill.

we do have daily mass shootings btw, just it's mostly black on black and occasionally black on whites, asians, hispanics, etc.

@icedquinn @peterdrake

there are no daily ‘mass’ shootings. they were relatively unheard of prior to the 2000s

That’s because they were almost exclusively a black phenomenon, and thus not reported on outside of those regions. They were still common, not at all relatively unheard of. I’ve dodged 3 drive-by shooting myself, and have been driven out of 2 cities now because of them. Mass shootings have been one of the driving forces of black violence turning whites into refugees for several decades.

No, they don’t cause psychosis if dose missed. Antidepressants are not responsible for this. You barking up wrong tree.

@icedquinn @peterdrake For the same reason why they are more likely to kill themselves. Anti-depressants make you feel like what ever it is you are doing is "okay".

Learned in school that being alive is destroying the planet? "it is okay"
Get dominated by a girl boss all day? "it is okay"
Life is dead ending at the start, time to kill yourself? "it is okay"
The fed shooter groomers want you to shoot up a place? "it is okay"

You know, when a well adjusted person takes these things, they freak out, talk about how it felt like "I was standing beside myself". Like they are watching someone else's life.
@icedquinn @peterdrake and lets not forget who does the overwhelming majority of "mass shootings"
@Terry @icedquinn @peterdrake I hope they update soon, we are a quarter through 2022 and Riot Season is right around the corner

@icedquinn

Yes, there are:

gunviolencearchive.org/

The total number of gun deaths per year is about on a par with the number of traffic fatalities.

I agree that most gun deaths are suicides.

Then there's the small matter of violence within ghettoes. Keep in mind that 13% of #NIGGERS contribute to at least 52% of violent crimes! When the rare shooting happens within White suburbs and rural areas, it's "news". Moreso if it's a drugged-up White kid programmed by government poison that slaughters as if the poor bastard is doing away with its tormentors.
@DahlHaus1776 @icedquinn @peterdrake Bears repeating ad nauseum.....if ya took away the gun deaths attributable to nigs between 18-33, U.S. would have gun death rate akin to Norway. But these are facts that cannot be talked about.
@DahlHaus1776 @icedquinn @peterdrake 13% of Americans. Not 13% of niggers. Please take a knife, stick it through your eyes, and wiggle it around inside your brain. If you have any kids, please hold their faces on a burning hot stove until they die.

@DahlHaus1776 @icedquinn @peterdrake
Also factor in that the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by males so that really means about 6% of the US population does over 50% of violent crime.

@peterdrake @icedquinn @stux you idiot. It doesn't matter what sins the writers of the Constitution committed, that is a brain-dead ad hominem argument. All that matters is that the original intent (not a pruned, "living" interpretation that subverts it) is upheld to protect our rights against the government.

Government does not grant rights. Human beings have inherent rights and self-defense is one. The original Constitution and Bill of Rights is the only thing stopping or at least slowing down the country's transformation into an authoritarian hellhole, aided and abetted by useful morons.

There is no such thing as "common sense gun control" except for government officials WITH GUNS taking away the means to defend yourself and others. It doesn't matter how much technology has advanced.
