@gebi @cstross ok I gotta take issue with the OPs interpretation of this. The paper studied people actively infected with Covid and saw changes to the gene expression in immune cells related to coagulation, detection of pathogens, etc. the value of this paper is that it provides some explanation for the progression of disease, which is important. It’s a good paper.
What it does not do is tell us anything at all about long term effects. Gene expression is transient.
I feel compelled to say that this reply set off some crank alarms:
