Here's a couple of amusing (well, geek amusing) tidbits about #Google Assistant.

If you tell it to count to a really large number, for example 10 million, it will respond with "Yikes, those numbers are too big, maybe try something below one million."

OK. Now ask it to count to one million. "OK, 1 2 3 ..." So not a problem. Though it's happy counting to a million, even though that isn't below one million. Oh well, just a minor off by one error.

But here's the fun part: "Hey Google, count backwards from one million."

"OK ... ... ... [long pause] ... ... ... 1 million, 999,999 ... "

That initial long pause after the OK is always something just over 10 seconds of dead air. You can imagine the loop churning somewhere deep in a data center building the response. An interesting (well, interesting to me) little implementation detail that is readily apparent.

@lauren In those ten seconds it could easily be creating a linked list of one million responses, and then just iterating backwards over them. Which would be completely insane but that doesn't mean it's not doing it.

@pieist Yep. Or at least a chunk. For all I know, when counting backwards from a million it pauses for 10 seconds every 50,000 numbers. I'm not gonna try find out.
